ABOUT

Artist Statement
Verity Powell (b. 2002) is a painter who lives and works in Surrey, England. Her work explores the human connection to impermanence: presenting liminal spaces that hold emotionally charged moments. This connection is explored through her use of ephemeral visuals and amplified through her process of working in one sitting to exact her emotional experience onto the canvas. In her work subjects dissolve and reform, creating fresh spaces constructed through place, matter and form. Her paintings are windows into transient moments and provide the viewer with a tantalising promise: a view of those worlds we cannot remain in, but so often pass through.
